Whittamore's has a huge selection of pumpkins from itty bitty ones (that are great for decorating) up to massive ones that you can barely lift (perfect for monster jack-o-lanterns). We like that the kids gets to see the fields where the pumpkins grow so they can make the connection between the farm and the food.
The kids love climbing and jumping on these huge stacks of hay bales. Great exercise and the hay provides padding so they can't really hurt themselves which is always a bonus!
Be sure to check out the unique singing chicken show and you won't want to miss taking a wagon ride through the Spooky Forest.
Let the kids go wild trying to make it through this fabulous corn maze! Don't worry if you lose them for a little while, they'll eventually come out the other end and I guarantee it will be with a big smile on their face!
Visit the small barnyard animals (calf, goats, ducks, etc) and try your hand at milking a wooden cow too! There's a sand lot for the little ones with lots of trucks and tractors to play with.
A highlight of our visit this year was watching the famous Pumpkin Canon Show. Make sure you check the show times when you arrive so you don't miss it. See that truck in the corner of the photo? Farmer Frank tries to hurl pumpkins through the windows and smash them! The kids had a blast counting down to blast off time, and were amazed to see pumpkins flying almost 400 feet into the back fields!
Whittamore's has so much to offer in their playground: bouncy farms, spider web climb, the Strawberry Mountain and Turbo Slide, a wooden combine climber, tire swings, ride-on tractors, a giant tree fort and so much more. There's something for everyone!
Whittamore's Farm is located in Markham at Steeles between Markham Road and Whites Road. Pumpkinland is open daily from 10am-5pm until October 31. For directions and more information, please visit their website at www.whittamoresfarm.com
