Back to articles Keeping Cool at Petticoat Creek Pool in Pickering

Categories: Family Fun

Did you know that Ontario's largest outdoor pool is located right here in Durham Region?

One of our top picks for keeping cool this summer is Petticoat Creek Pool. Located in Pickering, just off the 401 at it’s a quick and fun family outing.

Not only is it the largest outdoor pool (at 1.5 acres) in Ontario, but because it’s surrounded by grass and trees, instead of concrete, it makes for more of a natural setting to spend a day by the water. Pack a picnic, beach blankets and your bathing suits and spend the day by the pool. The water starts off really shallow for the little ones, and then gets progressively deeper towards the centre of the pool. There is also a snack bar located at the pool, which is a great place to buy an ice cream cone, or cool drink.

Because it’s located in the Petticoat Creek conservation area, there is an amazing amount of green space for kids to run around and great picnic spots outside the pool area, not to mention the beautiful Waterfront Trail.

The pool is a popular place for both local camps and Durham residents, so we recommend you go early to get the best shady spots on the grass.
