We had an absolutely amazing time at the Sharks at Stingray Bay exhibit at the Toronto Zoo.I had no idea what to expect, but it definitely did not disappoint. When you first walk in you see a pool but it’s not till you get really close that you realize that there are dozens of stingrays swimming about and a few sharks as well. We moved up to the edge of the pool with the kids and put our hands in and were completely surprised that the stingrays would swim right to your hands and allow you to gently touch their soft wings.
This has to be one of the most interactive exhibit at the zoo and just thrilled our kids. We had invited friends to join us that day, so we had two four year old boys, and six and seven year old girls. I looked around and there were lots of kids much younger than ours enjoying it as well.
We were told by Zoo staff to old touch the stingrays on their backs and wings and to avoid their heads and tails otherwise they’d splash us to voice their discontent. The kids loved the splashing the most. Sometimes the stingrays wouldn’t be anywhere near anyone but would still splash and the kids thought this was the greatest. Be prepared for your kids to have a great time and be prepared to get wet.
