Sunday, November 26, 2017 | Tea & Talk: Victorian Christmas Traditions

Description

Kick off the holiday season at the Oshawa Museum’s final Tea & Talk of the year! This month features Museum staff discussing Victorian Christmas Traditions and hosting a pomander-making workshop. Using newspaper advertisements, Museum artefacts and your imagination, you will travel back to a time when Christmas meant more than gifts. Learn decorating tips, get some ornament ideas and make your own holiday decoration – a pomander! Pomanders are clove studded citrus fruits that were placed throughout the home as a decoration during the holiday season. As the fruit dried the scent strengthened – a scent that evokes memories of days gone by. Join us on Sunday, November 26th at 1 pm in the Verna Conant Gallery at Guy House. Tickets are $10 per person or $5 for members of the Oshawa Historical Society. Purchase tickets by phone at 905-436-7624 ext. 106 or online at Eventbrite.ca
