Approximately 1,000 youth age of out Ontario’s foster care system every year. This means that on their 18th birthday, they are expected to leave their foster/group home to live independently. In the report “My REAL Lifebook”, submissions from youth revealed “care ends and we struggle”.

At the Adoption Council of Ontario, we know that a “forever family” can be the greatest single factor in ensuring a child’s health, well-being, and potential for success. Adoption provides a lifetime of benefits for children who are not living with their family of origin. During this month we want to raise awareness about the need for kids to have a family and families to have support in Ontario communities.
